What Is The Scottish Rite All About?
The Scottish Rite has been on the leading edge of Masonic education for hundreds of years. Through its unique philosphy, ritual, charity work, and through a focus on developing the core values and civic virtues of its members, the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry is dedicated to cultivating and preserving Wisdom.
Human progress is our cause, liberty of thought our supreme wish, freedom of conscience our mission, and the guarantee of equal rights to all people everywhere our ultimate goal.

Valley of Nashville Spotlight
Learn About the Scottish Rite Degrees
Each Scottish Rite Temple or Valley has 4 sets of degrees within it – often referred to as “bodies”. A “Scottish Rite Body” is an organization responsible for a group of degrees within the larger Scottish Rite Fraternity.
These organizations are styled as “Lodge of Perfection” for degrees 4-14, “Chapter Rose Croix” for degrees 15-18, “Council of Kadosh” for degrees 19-30, and “Consistory” for degrees 31 and 32.
There is also a “Court of Honor” – a group of ceremonies that include the Knight Commander of the Court of Honor (KCCH), the 33rd Degree, and the Grand Cross.
Lodge of Perfection
The Lodge of Perfection covers the Scottish Rite Degrees 4-14 and focuses on man’s relationship with the Ineffable nature of Deity.
Chapter Rose Croix
The Chapter Rose Croix covers the Scottish Rite Degrees 15-18 and focuses on the universal philosophy and symbolism of Divine love,
Council of Kadosh
The Council of Kadosh covers the Scottish Rite Degrees 19-30 and focuses on chivalry, history, and the legends of the Knight Kadosh.
Consistory
The Consistory covers the Scottish Rite Degrees 31 – 32 and focuses on a profound set of ancient and timeless symbols and philosophies.
Court of Honor
The Court of Honor covers three invitational honors: Knight Commander of the Court of Honor (KCCH), the 33rd Degree of the Scottish Rite, and the Grand Cross.
