Profile of a Mason

Mark Adam Cleveland, 32°

Mark Adam Cleveland was born in 1962 on Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina where his father was serving as an attorney in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps. His family moved to Oregon at the early age of four, where he lived until he moved to Middle Tennessee in 2000. He and his wife, Jenny Pruitt, live in East Nashville. Together, they have two daughters and two sons.

Mark’s formal education involved three years at the University of Oregon, time at Haas School of Business University of California Berkeley and he earned a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership from Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee, in 2017. He has enjoyed success in industries ranging from satellite systems to software development to short sea shipping. He has 19 years experience in transportation, technologies, and outsourcing services, having built a blue water barge operation for cross gulf transportation between the ports of Brownsville, Texas and Tampa, Florida.

Mark calls himself a “serial entrepreneur with a heart.“ For the last 20 years he’s been discovering his next endeavor by paying attention to the details and finding ways to disrupt and innovate. And as a born connector, he is constantly on the lookout for how to merge great people with good ideas.

Many people know Mark as the Co-Founder and long time CEO of Swiftwick, a Tennessee company that manufactures high grade premium athletic and medical compression socks. At Swiftwick, his team won the Governor’s Award for Trade Excellence. Brentwood based Hobby Express, a business venture selling radio controlled airplanes, cars, and family hobby products is another example of his supply chain experience and expertise.

Mark is currently CEO and Co-Founder of Hytch Rewards, an innovative cash incentive management platform that rewards drivers and passengers for smart mobility choices that reduce traffic congestion.

Among his many accolades, Mark was the recipient of the Nashville Chamber’s NEXT Award as 2014 Entrepreneur of the Year and was recognized by the Nashville Business Journal as one of the region’s Most Admired CEOs — at three different companies. He won the Tennessee Governor’s Environmental Stewardship Award, the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation’s Sustainable Transportation Award, and the Nashville Technology Council’s Emerging Company of the Year Award.

Mark has 35 years of service as a Rotarian. His Masonic adventures began in 2021 at Corinthian Lodge #8, Nashville, Tennessee, where he currently serves as junior warden. He joined the Scottish Rite as a member of the fall 2021 class. He says he is proud to continue the legacy of his family that includes both his grandfathers and father, 33rd, 32nd and 32nd Degree Masons, respectively. He is the current chairman of the Nashville Valley’s initiative in partnership with Soles4Souls collecting used shoes, and the director and promoter of the 2024 Scottish Rite Nashville Valley Golf Tournament.

Mark has fully adopted the “service above self” motto, his genuine embrace of masonic principles, his record of achievements, and his dedication and passion make him an asset to our fraternity. We appreciate his service and membership in the Middle Tennessee Masonic community.
